Ilozin®
Azithromycin Dihydrate
Ilozin contains azithromycin (as azithromycin dihydrate) in 500 mg tablets and 200 mg/5 ml oral suspension, and belongs to the macrolide (azalide) antibiotic class. It works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit (23S rRNA) of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and stopping bacterial growth. Ilozin is used to treat susceptible infections such as upper/lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media, skin/soft tissue infections, and Chlamydia trachomatis–associated urethritis/cervicitis.

Detailed Information
Azithromycin is an azalide antibiotic belonging to the macrolide class. It exerts its antibacterial action by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Azithromycin has demonstrated activity in vitro and in clinical infections against the following susceptible organisms: Gram-positive microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes Gram-negative microorganisms: Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus ducreyi, Moraxella catarrhalis, Neisseria gonorrhea. Other microorganisms: Chlamydia trachomatis, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Legionella pneumophila, Toxoplasma gondii.
