Alphedin® 120
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride
Alphedin 120 (Fexofenadine Hydrochloride) is a second-generation antihistamine with selective peripheral H₁-receptor antagonist activity for the symptomatic relief of allergic conditions. It is minimally distributed to the central nervous system and therefore is generally non-sedating at recommended doses. Fexofenadine is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, has limited metabolism, and is eliminated mainly via biliary/fecal excretion with a terminal half-life of approximately 14 hours.

Detailed Information
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride is an antihistamine with selective peripheral H₁-receptor antagonist activity. Fexofenadine is rapidly absorbed following oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations achieved within 2–3 hours. Approximately 60–70% of the drug is bound to plasma proteins. About 5% of the total dose is metabolized, primarily by the intestinal mucosa, with only 0.5–1.5% undergoing hepatic biotransformation via the cytochrome P450 system. The elimination half-life is approximately 14 hours, although it may be prolonged in patients with renal impairment. Excretion occurs mainly in the faeces, with approximately 10% of the administered dose recovered in the urine. Fexofenadine does not appear to cross the blood-brain barrier.
